The Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR) have completed construction of a new industrial road and utility infrastructure at Wanapa Industrial Site, a 120-acre greenfield site overlooking the Columbia River in Umatilla, Oregon. The project was done in collaboration with the Port of Umatilla, the City of Umatilla, and the Oregon Department of Corrections. CTUIR offers flexible lease terms, unique tax incentives, and can issue a development permit in as little as 30 – 90 days.
In conjunction with the road project, CTUIR also conducted a wastewater feasibility study to identify an alternative to municipal treatment for industrial tenants. The innovative solution involves pretreating water to standards set by CTUIR’s Department of Natural Resources and then using the clean water to develop wetlands on neighboring Wanaket Wildlife Area. Wanaket supports large populations of mule deer, waterfowl, upland birds, and other species.
